About the Numbers Converter

Number-base conversion rewrites the same integer using a different set of digits. This tool uses JavaScript BigInt, so it handles integers far beyond ordinary floating-point precision and supports every base from 2 through 36, using 0–9 and A–Z as digits. The arithmetic is exact for whole numbers.

Use binary for bit-level work, hexadecimal for colors and addresses, octal for legacy permissions, or a custom base for encoding exercises—for example, decimal 255 becomes hexadecimal FF. For measurements use a physical unit converter such as Length Converter; for storage quantities use Data Storage Converter, which explicitly handles SI and IEC prefixes.

Frequently asked questions

Which bases are supported?

Any integer base from 2 through 36, including binary, octal, decimal, hexadecimal, and custom bases.

Can it convert very large numbers?

Yes. Whole-number conversion uses BigInt rather than floating-point arithmetic, preserving arbitrary-size integer values.

Are fractional values supported?

No. This converter intentionally handles exact integers; fractional base conversion needs a separate precision policy.
