How to use this reference
Use weeks to plan a course, holiday, project milestone or recurring event. The result splits the calendar-day difference into whole seven-day weeks and remaining days: a date 17 days away is two weeks and three days away. Past dates use the same breakdown and are labeled “since,” not as a negative countdown.
The reference is today in your browser’s local timezone, and it updates while the page is open. Calendar dates are compared as dates, so a daylight-saving transition does not turn a seven-day week into six days because one day has only 23 hours. Reverse mode adds signed whole weeks to today; negative weeks look backward.
For a direct day total, use the Day Counter. The Months Until/Since Calculator handles variable-length calendar months, while the Date Calculator supports other date arithmetic. None of these date-only results specifies an event’s exact time of day.
Frequently asked questions
Does a week always mean seven days here?
Yes. Weeks are groups of seven calendar days, with leftover days shown separately. Business days are not substituted.
What happens when the selected date has passed?
The tool reports weeks and days since that date, rather than describing it as an upcoming event.
Can I find a date several weeks ago?
Yes. Use reverse mode with a negative whole number of weeks.
