How the Final Grade Calculator works
This calculator separates the grade you have already earned from the final exam. Enter your current class percentage, the final exam's share of the course grade, and your target percentage. It then solves for the final score needed to reach that target rather than simply averaging two percentages.
The formula is required final score = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight, with final weight written as a decimal. For example, a final worth 20% contributes 0.20 to the result. The breakdown table also applies the reverse formula to common possible exam scores, so you can see the full range of outcomes.
