About Secure Password Generation
This generator uses the Web Crypto API (window.crypto.getRandomValues()) to produce cryptographically secure random values — the same standard used in security-critical applications. Password entropy measures the unpredictability in bits: higher is always better. A 16-character password using all character sets yields over 100 bits of entropy, making brute-force attacks effectively impossible. For encoding generated secrets for transmission, see our Base64 Encoder/Decoder.
Password strength depends on two factors: length and character set size. Doubling the character set adds roughly 1 bit of entropy per character; doubling the length doubles the total entropy. For most accounts, aim for at least 60 bits of entropy (Strong). For high-value accounts, use Very Strong (80+ bits). If you need to share encoded data securely online, our URL Encoder/Decoder helps format data for safe web transmission.
